About The National Open University Of Nigeria                                           According to wikepedia, The National Open University of Nigeria is a Federal Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution, the first of its kind in the west African sub-region. It is Nigeria's largest tertiary Institution in terms of student number and is popularly referred to as 'NOUN'. This Institution was established in the year 2002, with over 515,000 Student now and it is situated in Abuja, Nigeria. It goes with the motto "work and learn".


How long does an Open University course take?                                                          • Post Graduate Certificate - This requires 60 credits, 6months of full time study or a year of part time study.
Post Graduate Diploma - This requires 120 credits, two years of part time study or a year of full time study.
Masters Degree - This Requires 180 credits, 2-3 years full time study or 3-4 years of part time study.


Are open university courses Recognised?                                                              Open University have all it qualifications right from the certificates and diplomas down to the honours degrees and postgraduate qualifications. All it courses are approved fully by the NUC board and are also highly rated by employers.

Is noun full time or part time?                                                                            Aspirants or  candidates of the national Open University of Nigeria should not engage in any part time programme in the school. NOUN is not a Part-Time Institution.

Does Open University graduates go for NYSC?                                                      Sure, Graduates of NOUN are also entitled to serve their Father's land. Earlier, the University Management of NOUN released a statement where it cleary stated that it's Students can now enroll and be a part of the NYSC program. If you are a graduate of NOUN below 30 years of age(maximum age), you are entitled to participate in the national youth service corps and law graduates to proceed to the Nigerian Law School.

Can I get job with noun certificate?                                                                          This, sounds weird but how can you spend four good years in school with your certificate and can't get a job due to your Institution isn't recognized by the government. The NUC has made it clear that any employer who refused to offer you a job because you are a noun graduate, after presenting your noun certificate legally to him, the employer is committing a big crime.
